Empowering Communities

At “Sarvin”, we believe in the principles of Holistic Conservation, which views humans and nature as inseparable parts of an ecosystem. Based on this, we have designed the “Community Empowerment” program, focusing on two key groups.

Rangers

Rangers, especially those from local and indigenous communities, play a crucial role in protecting natural resources. These individuals, in addition to their professional duties, have a direct impact on the environment due to their close connection with their families and local communities. Improving the skills and livelihoods of rangers and their families can strengthen conservation efforts. At Sarvin, we aim to enhance the skills of rangers by organizing workshops in areas such as tracking, photography, camera trapping, and navigation, helping them stay up-to-date and empowering them to have a more impactful role in conservation.

Local Communities

Local communities, as the primary inhabitants of natural areas, play a crucial role in environmental conservation. However, they are often overlooked in decision-making processes, and their voices are not heard. At Sarvin, we believe that by educating and empowering these communities, sustainable use of nature can be achieved. Organizing workshops to improve livestock and agricultural practices, participating in the restoration of degraded habitats, and enhancing traditional methods with modern approaches are some of the actions we are taking in this direction. Our goal is to prevent environmental degradation and migration to cities by creating opportunities for community involvement in conservation projects.

The importance of local community involvement in conservation

Experience has shown that without the active participation of local communities, sustainable environmental conservation is not possible. These communities, due to their proximity to habitats and dependence on natural resources, can act as the first guardians of nature. Their involvement in conservation programs, through the creation of job opportunities related to conservation and education, can significantly contribute to the improvement of ecosystems.

At Sarvin, we are committed to taking effective steps towards comprehensive and sustainable environmental conservation by empowering park rangers and local communities.
